We have now been in Los Angeles for the last two days and
are enjoying the warm weather. We arrived at our house at 540 San Juan Ave in
Venice on Monday afternoon. It is cosy two-bedroom house perfectly located in a
quiet street one block off Abbott Kinney and about 1 mile to the beach. And at
$200 a night, it is a steal. We spent most of yesterday getting our bearings while
we drove around in our Dodge mini-van. We started at Hollywood before cruising
back through Beverly Hills. On the way home, we stopped to shop for supplies at
the fantastic Whole Foods supermarket nearby. While there, the kids enjoyed
their first taste of celebrity spotting (not counting Snoop that is) When they saw Zach Galifianakis
in the isle, they asked for a photo with the bearded actor. He politely refused
but offered to shake both their hands. Tomorrow, we plan to drive down the coast
to see the surfing Mecca’s of Huntington Beach, Newport and Laguna. After the
intensity of NY, we are enjoying the laid-back vibe of Venice before we start
to head north towards San Francisco on Friday.
